Grand Hotel Continental*****
Via Banchi di Sopra, 85 - 53100 Siena
At long last, after two years of restoration
works, the Grand Hotel Continental reopens on February 2002 to the most
discriminating guests, in the majestic Palazzo Gori, commissioned by the Chigi
family to the architect Giovanni Fontana in the 17th century.
In Piazza Salimbeni, the heart of the ancient Medieval city and just steps away
from Piazza del Campo, this splendid aristocratic mansion now plays a vital role
of the cultural heritage of Siena.
As if by magic, refurbishment of the building has returned the ancient ornaments
and magnificent frescoes to their original splendour.
For light refreshment, there is the excellent Sapordivino wine bar for sampling
prestigious vintages, to enjoy with typical Tuscan cheeses and cold cuts,
situated in its medieval cellars.
For more intimate moments, the silent beauty of the winter garden in the covered
courtyard; for exclusive events, the sumptuous setting of the Salone delle Feste.

frescoed vaulted ceilings or coffered wooden beams, terracotta floors, prints
and paintings of acknowledged value, and splendid period furniture.

on each and every detail, from the precious marble of the bathrooms to the
latest technology for contact with the rest of the world, all in flawless
harmony to ensure that each guest's stay is more than perfect.
