DAY 1 - JUNE 4 Depart Paris with your rental car and drive to Normandy. Make a stop for lunch in the charming port of Honfleur. After lunch, drive to the mile and a half long “Pont de Normandy”, an architectural marvel. Leaving Honfleur start your discovery of the landing beaches of D-Day starting with Sword Beach located in the British Sector, followed by the Canadian sector with Juno beach and Gold beach. In Arromanches, visit the D-Day Museum and when arriving at Omaha Beach, which is where the US troops faced the strongest German forces, “walk the dunes” before continuing onto Longue sur Mer where you will see the German Gun Battery. In St Laurent, pay your respect to the fallen soldiers at the American cemetery and then after going to the “Pointe du Hoc”, end your visit of the landing beaches at Utah Beach. Drive to your hotel, check in and enjoy the evening at leisure. Overnight at the CHATEAU DE BELLEFONTAINE*** just outside the town of Bayeux.
DAY 2 - JUNE 5 Full day at leisure. Suggestion of program: Drive to Sainte Mere Eglise, the town on which U.S. paratroopers belonging to the 82nd were dropped on D Day. Visit the Airborne Troops Museum, then continue onto Utah Beach. Pass the first American Airfield (12 June.1944) signed by a memorial, the C 47 memorial and the remains of a German prisoners camp. Cover the long distance to reach Omaha Sector and the La Pointe du Hoc. It doesn't seem possible that anyone could scale those 110 ft high sheer cliffs under German firing. Further along Omaha sector, get to Omaha landing Beach, the bloodiest landing that the American had even known. Visit at the Omaha D-Day Museum. Overlooking the sand, the American Military Cemetery, beautifully kept, is the final home of over nine thousand young men, who lost their lives in the Battle of Normandy. Return at the hotel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 3 – JUNE 6 D-DAY Full day at leisure. Take the opportunity to be in Normandy on that big day to attend one of the many commemorative ceremonies taking place in various sites al over the region.
DAY 4 - JUNE 7 After breakfast, drive to the Western Wonder of the World, the Mont Saint Michel. On the way, make a stop in the typical town of Villedieu les Poeles, the copper city. Once in the Mount St Michel, savor the famous omelet of the Restaurant La Mère Poulard and then, visit the Abbey perched atop the Rock with an amazing view of the bay. Return to Bayeux for overnight.
