TOUR # 1 -
Cuevas Del Drach & Manacor
You will be collected at the port and taken
to the Gordiola glass blowing factory. Then on to Porto Cristo,
where you will have time to explore the town and have lunch.
After lunch you will visit the Cuevas del Drach, which were
first discovered in 1878. You will be taken through almost all
of the chambers of this underground cave, with spectacular rock
formations reflected in water pools and lakes. Stalagmites and
stalactites form a continuous display of fantastic patterns in
cave after cave. Its biggest lake, the Lake Martel, is one of
the largest subterranean lakes in the world, and in this
incredible setting you can listen to classical music played by a
live orchestra; Chopin is one of the favorite composers. Before
being taken back to the port in Palma, a visit will be made to
the Majorica pearl factory in Manacor and also to the Olivart
factory, which specializes in making a variety of objects from
olive wood.

TOUR # 2
-
Palma & Valldemossa
The first visit will be to the Cathedral of
Santa María in Palma, cathedral of the Diocese of Majorca and
built in the Levantine Gothic style overlooking the sea. Then on
to the Castillo de Bellver, built in the 14th century also in
the Gothic style on the top of a hill 112 meters high. From here
there are panoramic views of Palma and the port, the Sierra de
Tramuntana, the mountain range that runs along the west coast,
and also the central plain of Majorca.
VALLDEMOSSA We will go to the picturesque
and romantic village of Valldemosa, set amongst the hills in a
beautiful valley with rich vegetation. The origins of this
village go back to prehistoric times as many archaeological
remains from the Talayotic Period have been discovered nearby.
It is a pleasure to walk along the narrow streets of typical
stone-built Majorcan village houses with lots of flowers on the
balconies to add a touch of color. Of special interest is the
parish church of San Bartolomé, quite near to the Casa de la
Beata. You will have free time to explore the village and you
can choose to visit the Cartuja or the Costa Nord either before
or after this period. The Monasterio de la Real Cartuja de Jesús
Nazareno is where the famous couple Frederic Chopin and George
Sand stayed on a visit to Mallorca. You can visit the cells they
occupied, furnished and decorated in the style of the times,
also the gardens, the Palace of Rey Sancho and the municipal
museum. In the auditorium in Costa Nord you can hear the voice
of Michael Douglas describing the history of Majorca starting
with the arrival of the Phoenicians and including the Roman
conquest, the Moorish Empire, the Christian Reconquest and the
Mediterranean pirates. You can also make a virtual voyage aboard
the yacht "Nixe", which belonged to the Austrian Archduke Luís
Salvador, who became so enchanted with the island on a visit
that he made it his home. At the end of the visit you will be
taken back to the port of Palma

TOUR # 3 -
Palma & La Granja de Esporlas
|
The first visit will be to the
Cathedral of Santa María in Palma, cathedral of the
Diocese of Majorca and built in the Levantine Gothic
style overlooking the sea. Then on to the Castillo de
Bellver, built in the 14th century also in the Gothic
style on the top of a hill 112 metres high. From here
there are panoramic views of Palma and the port, the
Sierra de Tramuntana, the mountain range that runs along
the west coast, and also the central plain of Majorca.
LA GRANJA DE ESPORLAS You will be collected at the
port for a guided tour of the Granja Mallorquina,
situated just outside the village of Esporles. Of
Moorish origin, it now belongs to a local aristocratic
family. In Roman times the estate was much appreciated
for the great quantity of water it could provide and
today can still boast of a natural geyser which sends a
column of water 30 meters into the air. It was occupied
by Arab owners from the 10th to the 13th centuries. The
present buildings of La Granja are a mixture of rustic
and refined styles; besides being a family residence it
was also a country estate or possessió with a
working farm that tilled the land and bred animals. The
buildings today still have the dignified air of a well
conserved old country house. La Granja also contains
many examples of traditional Majorcan agricultural
implements and customs. You will be able to see the
traditional handicrafts being carried out and taste the
typical products made on the premises. At the end of the
visit you will be taken back to the port of Palma
