Pompeii & Amalfi

Pick up at Naples harbour and departure to Pompeii.
Guided visit of the ancient streets where you can admire
the houses with their wonderful frescoes, once residences of roman
patricians before the tremendous eruption of A.D. 79.
The tour proceeds to Amalfi. In Amalfi, you will have free time
to see the almost Byzantine Cathedral of Sant’ Andrea founded in
the 9th century. It's reached by climbing steep steps and is
marked by its black and white facade and its mosaics. Reached by a broad
flight of steps from the Piazza del Duomo, just one block inland, it is
famous for its fabulous Cloisters of Paradise, originally a
necropolis for members of the Amalfi establishment. This graveyard dates
from the 1200s and contains the broken columns and statues, as well as

Naples & Pompeii

centre.
Guided tour of the city: you will visit the
Cathedral, the Church of S. Restituta, the first Paleo
Christian church which dates back to 4th century AD, the
Plebiscito Square and the beautiful church of St Francesco
di Paula in its neoclassical style, and the
characteristic area
of Spaccanapoli,
the main street that traverses the old, historic
center of the city, renowned for the artisans’ shops that reproduce
the figurines of the Nativity scene.
