Squares & Fountains
|
Pick up at Civitavecchia harbour and departure to
Rome city
centre
An
unforgettable walk throughout Rome’s most marvellous squares, starting from
Piazza
Navona, then to San Luigi dei Francesi and to the Pantheon. And, what
final stop could be more fitting than the Trevi Fountain,
literally exploding in
front of your eyes when you emerge from the labyrinth of surrounding
alleys. This extraordinary display of travertine and water is the product of a
Baroque imagination, based on a project of Bernini and successfully
recreated by the architect Nicola Salvi a hundred years later.
The promenade will continue with the visit of Rome
main fountains: Fontana
del Tritone,
built by Bernini, this fountain is in Piazza Barberini
and was commissioned by the Barberini family in 1642.
Fontana della
Barcaccia,
in Piazza di Spagna, at the foot of the Spanish Steps (Scalinata
di Trinità dei Monti)
built in 1629 by Bernini.
Fontana dei Fiumi,
in the
center of Piazza Navona, designed by Bernini for Pope Innocent X.
